Fine Tools and Machinery

To produce quality wood work in a timely and cost effective manner a wide variety of hand and power tools are required. These photos represent just a small number of the fine tools we use to build our fine products. Some are state of the art, some are rebuilt and retooled and some are handmade.

To the left is a 1958 Newman Machinery Co. single end tenoner. Fine vintage equipment is a joy to work with; it possesses a certain character often lacking in more modern examples. Our rebuilt equipment is capable of the same precision jointery today as it was 60 years ago. It is that precision jointery that is responsible for the fine fit and finish seen in all of our work.
We have very high standards when it comes to selecting modern machinery, preferring German and Italian examples. Such as our state of the art SCMi spindle moulder, which allows us to cut profiles with unmatched accuracy.
In some cases we are required to build hand tools for a specific job, as the craftsmen of old did. Tools such as these deliver remarkable character to a project. Hand tools are such an integral part of fine woodworking that I cannot imagine working without them.
